It's sometimes said that some people work well by themselves.
How about working well "with yourself"?
This album is such undertaking.
While working under Dubtrak moniker I often found myself producing tracks that were not sitting well with downtempo dub / bass / world groove vibe and ended up putting aside sizable amount of music "for later". That "later" became my other important project, an atmospheric, and often abstract, ambient venture I named Intersonic Subformation.
For some time Dubtrak and Intersonic Subformation projects were kept separately and did not cross their paths until the idea of minimalistic ambient remix album of some of Dubtrak tunes entered my mind.
Well, who better knows Dubtrak than Intersonic Subformation! And while it may seem like a case of split personality, the idea of "wearing different hats" with entirely my own material appealed to me and injected some new vigor into my work.
So I stripped some of the selected Dubtrak tracks to bare minimum - no beats and little bass, with guitar licks and some synths tracks brought into focus.
I applied Intersonic Subformation ambient treatment to these tracks and, while the ambient "remixes" seemed fine on their own, I decided to take the challenge even further and gel it with some entirely new material.
Eventually I ended up with one long, seamless composition that hopefully stands well on its own.
So here it is: "Out of thin air", from two different virtual entities, with one real heart beating behind it.
